Founded in St. Louis, Missouri in 1973, Insurance Design & Placement laid its foundation as a provider of life, health, property and casualty insurance for individuals and small commercial operations. Within a decade, the company headquarters relocated to Denver, Colorado, and underwent a complete restructuring. By 1989, Insurance Design & Placement was incorporated and the company stock is owned jointly by father-daughter team, Melvin E. Bush and Sebrina Nailah Bush.

Insurance Design & Placement's success in the hospitality industry prompted Bush to expand his business, forming two wholly owned subsidiaries, Global Transportation Insurance Services Inc. and Desirable Outcome Claims Services Inc.

Global Transportation Insurance operates internationally, in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Nigeria, providing coverage services to companies transporting products - everything from their vehicles and cargo to individual workers.

Desirable Outcome Claims Services operates on a fee-for-services basis, providing claims management and loss-control services. These services are utilized by partially and fully, self-insured risk management programs.
